How to extract strings in Excetions

Postby J.O. » Fri Aug 20, 2010 9:00 pm

The strings in Exception class constructors in Java and .NET are usually inner messages such as log messages, so the default rules are tuned to keep these strings not appearing in the analysis result.

However, some people would like to extract these Exception messages only.

In this case, the following rules will do.

1. Uncheck 'Externlize'. (for extracting only)

2. Register the string not for elimination, but for detecting them only.

3. Specify ".*" indicating all string patterns. (If you set others like "ERROR:.*", you can get the strings beginning at "ERROR:" only.)

4. Specify ".*Exception" indicating functions using the strings you want. (This means all functions ending at "Exception". You can set others like "IOException".)

These string rules have unlimited combination of usage.

Please try to find useful usage by yourself!
